Chemicals
Live at two chemicals and trading businesses
The drum goes out at the listed price, to a party inside its limit.
For chemicals traders and works that sell by the drum, the tanker and the kg. Each order is priced from the party's price list and checked against its credit limit; payments are chased on the due date. Works next to Tally.
Where this stands
Live at two chemicals and trading businesses for price lists, credit limits and collections. The hazard and process screens below are built (classification, labels, safety data sheets, transport, storage, retests, tanks, formulas, consents), but we do not yet claim them in live use. Ordence runs at eight businesses: five on an industry pack and three on the core system.
The sales desk, in use today
Price, credit and collection.
Price lists
Each party has a price list, with volume slabs if you offer them. Quotes and orders are priced from it, and the margin is saved at quote time.
Credit control
Limit and dues are checked before the order. Over the limit, it stops, unless someone overrides it under their own name.
Collections
What each party owes, receipts matched to invoices, and reminders ready on the due date, in Hindi if the party prefers. A person sends each one.
At the order: no one can quietly quote last month's rate to a party already over its limit.
The hazard side, built
From hazard class to the drum at the gate.
Substances and classification
Each substance carries its GHS hazard class (the global labelling system) as a numbered revision. A person records it. A new revision withdraws every label made from the old one.
Labels
Made from the classification, never typed, so a label always matches its hazard.
Safety data sheets
No hazardous product leaves without a current sheet in the language the delivery needs. Sheets lapsing within 30 days are listed.
Transport
Each substance has its transport class on record. If the consignment note does not match it, dispatch is refused.
Storage
You declare which materials must be kept apart. Where stock is held by location, a move that puts them together is refused.
Consents and waste
Consent to Establish and Consent to Operate, with conditions and renewal dates. Waste manifests and periodic returns beside them.
The process side, built
For a works that makes, blends or holds bulk liquid.
- Retests, not expiry. Most chemicals are retested, not expired. The result (revalidated, downgraded or rejected) sets what the stock can be used for.
- Tanks read by dip. The tank's chart turns a dip reading into volume; density at a stated temperature turns volume into mass.
- Formulas with co-products. Main product, co-products and by-products each take a share of cost, as the formula sets.
- Batches traced. Back to its work order and inputs; forward to every customer who got it.
- Toll conversion. Material sent to a job worker on a challan stays your stock while out. The ITC-04 figures come from the same challans.
GST for chemicals
Your GST duties, and what Ordence covers. The rate follows each product's HSN code. Most chemicals and solvents are at 18%. Sulphuric acid, nitric acid and ammonia are at 5% since 22 September 2025, the rate fertilisers already had. The general 12% and 28% slabs are gone. Your HSN decides the rate; confirm it with your CA.
What GST asks of you
A load worth over ₹50,000, tax included, travels with an e-way bill. Within a state, check that state's own limit. Material sent to a job worker in another state needs one at any value.
E-invoices (IRN) apply once turnover in any year since 2017-18 passed ₹5 crore. At ₹10 crore or more, each must reach the IRP within 30 days of its date.
HSN digits on invoices: 4 up to ₹5 crore turnover, 6 above.
Input credit only for bills that appear in your GSTR-2B. Credit on free samples, and on stock written off or destroyed, such as a rejected batch, is reversed.
Freight from a transport company (GTA) is taxed at 5% under reverse charge, which you pay, unless the transporter charges 5% or 18% on its own invoice.
GSTR-3B tax is taken from GSTR-1 and cannot be edited; correct through GSTR-1A or a later GSTR-1.
Material at a job worker must return within one year (inputs) or three years (capital goods), or it counts as a supply.
ITC-04 for job-work goods: half-yearly above ₹5 crore of last year's turnover, otherwise once a year.
What Ordence does
Every drum's invoice line carries HSN, with tax split into CGST and SGST, or IGST, by place of supply.
The GST rate for each HSN, entered with the date it took effect, so an old invoice keeps its old rate.
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B figures from your invoices; GSTR-2B matched to your purchases, and credit missing from it held back and listed for the supplier.
Input tax credit is checked line by line on every purchase bill, by HSN and date, with blocked credits under section 17(5) flagged and kept out of your claim. Reverse-charge freight is kept apart.
E-way bill files to upload.
Job-work challans, toll conversion included, and ITC-04 figures from them.
Ordence prepares the return data; you or your CA file it on the portal.
GST rules last checked 16 October 2026, against CBIC notifications and GSTN advisories. Rates and limits change. Confirm how they apply to you with your CA.
In every Ordence system as well
Three shared parts. The full list is on the industries page.
- Enquiries with an owner. Website, IndiaMART, JustDial and referrals, each assigned, with an alert if one waits.
- Your name on it. Your own web address, your name and logo on every screen. How that works.
- Agents that draft. An agent drafts a follow-up when a party is late for its usual order. Nothing goes out until someone sends it.
What it does not do
- No filing of returns, e-invoices or e-way bills. Return figures and e-way bill files are ready for you or your CA; the IRN is made on the portal.
- It does not print the driver's transport emergency card. Print it from the supplier's sheet for now.
- It shows no map of which bay holds what. The keep-apart check runs on the stock record.
- It does not watch emissions or effluent against consent limits live. Periodic returns are measured at period end.
- It does not keep export registration dossiers for other countries.
- It holds no security certification today.
Questions
What chemicals businesses ask first.
Is any chemicals business running Ordence today?
Yes, two, for price lists, credit limits and collections. The hazard checks are built; we do not yet claim them in live use.
Can an order go to a party over its credit limit?
Only if someone overrides the stop, and their name is recorded.
Does Ordence decide how a substance is classified?
No. A person records it. Labels, the safety sheet check and the transport check follow from it.
Our material does not expire. Do we have to give it an expiry date?
No. Retest dates are kept separately, and each result sets what the stock can be used for.
Which GST rate applies to our products?
It depends on each product's HSN code. Your CA confirms the rates at setup, each with the date it took effect.
Start with your price list and last month's outstanding.
We show where each figure would sit in Ordence, and say so if the pack does not fit.
