Ordence vs Marg.
Marg ERP has served Indian pharma and FMCG distributors, retailers and chemists since 1992, through local centres. Many stockists already run it. Ordence's pharma distribution pack is built, with no customer yet. Here is where Marg is safer, and where our pack checks a line before it reaches the bill.
Last reviewed 14 October 2026. Marg's editions, prices and features were checked on Marg's pricing page and home page on 14 October 2026. They change, and Marg says final prices vary by need; check there before you rely on a figure. Marg and Tally are trademarks of their owners. Ordence is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by either; they are named only to compare.
Who Marg is for
The chemist, the stockist and the FMCG wholesaler.
Marg sells billing, stock, accounting and GST software through more than 850 sales and support centres. It is built for the pharma chain: batch and near-expiry stock, dump stock, schemes, purchase and sale claims, credit limit while billing, and chemist counter billing.
Add-on apps: eOrder for salesmen, eOwner for the owner, eDelivery for delivery staff, MargPay for payments, and a listing where retailers find nearby distributors and their schemes.
What Marg does well
Five ways Marg beats Ordence, from its own pages.
- Proven in the trade. Distributors, stockists and chemists already run it. Ordence's pharma pack runs nowhere live yet.
- Local support. A dealer in your city who can visit. A founder runs Ordence onboarding, remotely.
- The counter. Touch-screen billing for chemists and shops. Ordence has no counter screen.
- Field apps. Separate apps for salesmen, owner and delivery. Ordence has one phone web app, for enquiries, the godown and proof of delivery.
- Payments. MargPay collects and matches payments. Ordence does not collect payments online.
What Marg costs
Marg's published India prices, plus 18% GST, as listed on 14 October 2026.
| Edition | Users as listed | Listed price |
|---|---|---|
| Marg ERP Nano | Up to 2 users, 2 companies | ₹5,550 |
| Basic | 1 user, up to 2 at ₹3,000 each extra | ₹10,300 |
| Silver | 1 full user and 1 view-only | ₹13,900 |
| Gold | Unlimited users | ₹26,000 |
Marg says customisation costs extra, final prices depend on needs and setup, and it does not sell through online portals. Ordence publishes no price; terms are shared privately after the fit call and data review.
Where Ordence differs
Checks on each invoice line, before the bill is made. The pharma distribution pack: built, no customer yet.
- The price ceiling on the line. A line priced above that day's NPPA ceiling (the government's maximum drug price) is refused on the invoice, not found in a month-end report.
- Registers that block. No Schedule H1 or X drug leaves stock without its register entry. Drug licences are flagged ninety days before they lapse.
- Schemes on the invoice line. Free quantity such as 10+1 and value slabs sit on their line, with GST per line and expiry claims matched with the principal (the manufacturer).
- Sales before the order. IndiaMART enquiries, quotes and a shared WhatsApp inbox, for firms that also sell to institutions.
- Books, with Tally optional. Ordence keeps its own books and runs alongside Tally for the CA.
Moving from Marg
Batch stock is the hard part, so it goes first.
Be the first, knowingly
You would be the pharma pack's first live customer. Agree on the fit call what that means for support and timing.
Load stock by batch and expiry
Items with HSN, then closing stock by batch and expiry, accepted only when it matches Marg's closing stock.
Carry open schemes and claims
Running schemes, pending expiry returns and unsettled claims are entered as open items, so none is lost.
Run one month in parallel
One month-end on both, with a set date to switch off. The migration checklist lists what to settle first.
Questions
Being first, chemist shops, and FMCG.
We are a pharma distributor. Is Ordence for us?
Possibly. The pack covers batch and expiry, line schemes, expiry claims, the NPPA ceiling check, H1 and X registers and licence dates. No pharma business runs it yet, so you would be first. For software proven in your trade, Marg is safer.
We run a chemist shop. Should we look at Ordence?
No. Ordence has no counter billing screen. Software built for the counter, such as Marg, will suit you better.
We are an FMCG wholesaler. Which fits?
For billing, batch stock, schemes and a salesman app, Marg covers it today. Ordence's distribution pack adds dealer credit checked at dispatch, landed cost spread to every unit and, over ₹50,000, the e-way bill at the dispatch gate. Built, no customer yet.
Send us a batch-wise stock statement.
One month, with expiry dates, at the fit call. We will show where earliest-expiry picking and the ceiling check would have changed a bill, or tell you Marg already covers you. Full scorecard: the compare page.
