Restaurants

Built, no restaurant on it yet

Every ticket takes its grams, and every payout is checked.

For restaurants, cloud kitchens and caterers. A KOT (kitchen order ticket) fires to its station and writes down the grams its recipe uses. The stores' issues are read against those grams, and each delivery-app payout is checked order by order. Works next to Tally.

Where this stands

Built, no restaurant on it yet. No restaurant, cloud kitchen or caterer runs this pack. Ordence runs at eight businesses (five on an industry pack and three on the core system); none is a restaurant. If you want software proven in your trade, a product many restaurants already run is safer. If you would rather be first, it is set up for your menu, recipes and stores before any billing.

The business, desk by desk

From the enquiry to the payout in the bank.

  1. Enquiries

Party and catering enquiries from the website, Meta ads, JustDial, referrals and walk-ins, in one list. An unanswered one raises an alert.

  2. Catering

Quoted per plate on a guaranteed count. The bill is raised on the guarantee or the plates served, whichever is more.

  3. The pass

Each KOT fires to its station: tandoor, main kitchen, and so on.

  4. Stores

When a KOT fires, its recipe's paneer, oil and onion are written down in grams. The day's grams are set against what the stores issued, and the gap is the variance.

  5. Recipes

Recipes nest: one gravy, cooked once, feeds several dishes. From a bill to its dish, its sub-recipe and its ingredients, and back from one ingredient to every dish it goes into.

  6. Prep

Onion loses its skin, ghee almost nothing. Each recipe line carries its own wastage, and each gravy batch its own yield.

  7. Delivery apps

Each imported payout statement is checked order by order: gross, commission, fees and the GST on them, against what reached the bank. A short payment is flagged.

  8. Your own deliveries

Your own deliveries and catering drops close on the phone: a signature, a photo, or a one-time code read back by a named person. Even offline.

What a restaurant gets first

What owners ask about first.

  • Grams per ticket. Every fired KOT takes its recipe's grams from the books.
  • Stores variance. What the recipes used, against what the stores issued.
  • Wastage and yield. Set per ingredient line and per gravy batch.
  • Payouts checked. Every delivery-app order, from the imported statement.
  • Catering on the greater count. Guarantee or plates served, whichever is more.
  • Statements for corporate accounts. Each corporate and catering account sees its own bills and balance on a portal.

What it means: paneer that left the stores and never reached a bill shows up as a gap, and a short payout from a delivery app is flagged rather than missed.

GST for restaurants

The GST the film shows, and what Ordence does.

  • What GST asks of you

A restaurant outside “specified premises” (a hotel that charged more than ₹7,500 a room night in the last financial year, or chose to be one) bills food at 5%, as CGST 2.5% and SGST 2.5%, and takes no input tax credit.

On orders placed through a delivery app, the app pays the GST on that food, not the restaurant.

The app's commission and fees carry 18% GST, which a 5% restaurant cannot claim back. The app also deducts income-tax TDS of 0.1% (formerly Section 194-O). GST TCS does not apply to food the app pays tax on.

Outdoor catering follows the same rule: 5% without credit, 18% with credit at specified premises. A sealed bottle sold over the counter as goods takes its own rate inside the MRP, such as 40% on a cola or 5% on packaged water. Liquor is outside GST, under state excise and VAT.

Monthly bills to a corporate account are business invoices: above ₹5 crore turnover each needs an e-invoice IRN.

Purchase GST is still on your supplier bills. It is recorded and matched, even though it cannot be claimed.

  • What Ordence does

Bills at the 5% set on each menu item, with CGST and SGST shown and your FSSAI licence number on the bill.

Supplier bills matched to GSTR-2B, their GST kept line by line and marked not claimed, so it shows as a cost.

Each delivery-app channel is marked as one where the app pays the GST, so it is not paid twice. Each payout's commission, fees and the GST on them are set against what reached the bank.

GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B figures ready, for your CA to file.

GST rules last reviewed 16 October 2026. Ordence prepares figures; it does not file. Rates and conditions change, and a restaurant inside a hotel may be taxed at 18% with credit, and a small restaurant may choose composition. Confirm how they apply to you with your CA.

In every Ordence system as well

Three shared parts. The full list is on the industries page.

  • Corporate accounts that have gone quiet. Each account's usual gap between orders, and who has passed it.
  • A role for each desk. Stores, billing and accounts each get their own role, from eight. All changes are logged.
  • Agents that draft. A follow-up to a quiet corporate account is drafted for a person to check and send.

What it does not do

  • It has no point-of-sale till and does not drive KOT printers.
  • It does not take live order feeds from delivery apps. Payout statements are imported.
  • It takes no table reservations.
  • It does not yet show a food cost per dish.
  • Returns and e-way bills: prepared here, filed by you or your CA. The IRN from the IRP is recorded on the invoice. Entries reach Tally by file or the optional connector.
  • It holds no security certification today.

Questions

What restaurant owners ask first.

Can Ordence replace our billing counter?

No. There is no point-of-sale till and no KOT printer support. Ordence sits behind the counter: recipes, stores, catering, payouts and the books.

How does it know what the kitchen used?

Each fired KOT writes down its recipe's grams. The day's total is set against what the stores issued.

Does it connect to the delivery apps live?

No. You import each payout statement, and every order on it is checked against what reached the bank.

How is a catering order billed?

On the guaranteed count or the plates served, whichever is more.

Is any restaurant running Ordence today?

Not yet. You would be the first.

Bring one month of stores issues.

Add a delivery-app payout statement and a few recipes. We show how Ordence would read them, and say so if it does not fit.
