What connects live, and what moves by file.

IndiaMART, WhatsApp and your email connect live. Tally takes entries through an optional connector on the Tally PC, or by file. Your bank and the GST portal take a file that a person moves. Each row below says which, and what it needs from you.

An IndiaMART enquiry at night has an owner by morning. A net-banking statement becomes receipts matched to invoices, waiting for a person.

Tally: vouchers both ways, ledgers left alone

Your CA keeps Tally. Entries move through the connector or as files.

The connector runs on the PC next to Tally. If an entry names a ledger Tally does not have, it refuses and names that ledger. So every ledger in Tally is one your CA made.

The import check shows a party whose balance differs, before your CA finds it at year end. Ordence also keeps its own full books, from day book to balance sheet, whichever set you treat as the main one.

Read Ordence and Tally for how the two split the work, and moving off Tally without downtime if you are thinking about it.

GST: the JSON is prepared, the upload is yours

No portal login is kept, and nothing is filed by API.

Ordence builds the GSTR-1 file (your sales return) from invoices and credit notes. It takes in GSTR-2B (the monthly statement of purchase invoices your suppliers reported to GST) to match against supplier bills, and works out the GSTR-3B figures.

Invoices carry what e-invoicing needs, and the IRN from the IRP is recorded on the invoice. It prepares e-way bill files for the NIC portal. You or your CA upload and file them. The GSTR-2B reconciliation and e-way bill thresholds guides cover the rules.

Not connected

What people expect, and Ordence does not connect to.

  • Ledgers in Tally. They stay your CA's to make.
  • Direct filing to the GST portal, IRP or e-way bill system. The files are prepared for you to upload.
  • Online payment collection. No payment gateway or pay-by-link. Invoices and quotes carry a UPI QR, and money goes straight to your bank.
  • Courier tracking. Transporter, LR and e-way details are typed on the packing note.
  • Social lead sources other than Meta. Meta lead ads are the only one connected.
  • Live connections to your bank. Statements come in as files from net banking.

Questions

What owners and accountants ask.

Do we have to stop using Tally?

No. Tally data moves by file, or through the optional connector, which never creates ledgers or deletes anything. Your CA keeps working in Tally. Ordence also has its own books if you later want to move.

Does Ordence file our GST returns?

No. It prepares the files. You or your CA upload them on the portal.

Do we need a Google Cloud project for Gmail and Sheets?

No. Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Forms and image text reading connect through one Apps Script in your Google account.

Can each salesperson use their own WhatsApp number?

Yes, through a self-hosted gateway, next to the shared inbox. WhatsApp reminders are tap-to-send, never automatic.

Send us your list of logins.

The portals, the bank, the Tally version and the WhatsApp number your team uses. We will mark each one live, by file, or not connected.
