Ordence vs BUSY.

BUSY is desktop accounting and stock software for Indian small businesses, from a free edition up to multi-branch. If your accounts office is the centre of the business, it is hard to beat. Ordence starts earlier, at the enquiry, and runs the quote, reel and dispatch through to its own books.

Last reviewed 14 October 2026. BUSY's editions, prices and features were checked on BUSY's pricing page and home page on 14 October 2026. They change; check there before you rely on a figure. BUSY and Tally are trademarks of their owners. Ordence is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by either; they are named only to compare.

Who BUSY is for

Accounts-first desktop software, long established.

BUSY says more than six lakh businesses have used it over thirty years, across more than twenty trades, from pharmacy and FMCG to garments, auto parts and mandi commission agents. It installs on a desktop. BUSY Online gives remote access, and a mobile app shows reports, orders and invoices.

If your day is an accountant or two posting entries, a billing clerk making invoices and an owner reading reports, BUSY was built for you.

What BUSY does well

Five ways BUSY beats Ordence, from its own pages.

  • Files GST from inside. The Standard edition lists direct GSTR-1 and IFF upload, and e-invoice and e-way bill generation. Ordence prepares the figures and files; you or your CA upload and file them on the portal.
  • Branches and payroll. The Enterprise edition merges head office and branch data, and includes payroll. Each Ordence system runs one company, with no payroll.
  • More than one currency. Listed in Standard. Ordence keeps books in rupees only.
  • A free edition and a one-time licence. BUSY Express is free, and BUSY 21 sells as a one-time licence with optional yearly renewal. Ordence offers neither.
  • Accountants know it. After thirty years, your CA has likely opened a BUSY file before.

What BUSY costs

BUSY's published prices, before GST, as listed on 14 October 2026.

BUSY OnlineRemote access add-on, 360 days₹10,800 or ₹16,800

Ordence publishes no price; terms are shared privately after the fit call and data review. On cost alone, that is a fair reason to start with BUSY.

Where Ordence differs

The work before an accounting entry exists. Shown for the roll and batch trading pack, live at one hot and cold stamping foil trader.

  • The enquiry before the invoice. IndiaMART, JustDial and Dial4Trade enquiries arrive with a named owner. An untouched one alerts its owner after 60 minutes by default, 30 at the foil trader. A quote below the minimum margin needs approval.
  • Stock reel by reel. BUSY tracks batches and godowns. Ordence holds each reel by width, shade, rack and mill lot, plans cuts with blade and edge waste priced in rupees, and passes landed cost per m² to every cut reel.
  • The godown on a phone. Scan to find a reel, count rack by rack, and dispatch through a check that blocks a mixed or unapproved lot. Photo and signature prove delivery, even offline.
  • Books beside the work. Its own double-entry books, GSTR-2B matching and bank reconciliation. It runs alongside Tally if your CA stays there.

Moving from BUSY

Most businesses keep the accounts where they are.

  1. Decide what moves

If BUSY files your GST well and your CA likes it, keep it for accounts. Ordence runs beside it.

  2. Export masters and stock

Export customer, supplier and item lists, and closing stock by batch, as Excel or CSV. Ordence accepts stock only when quantities balance.

  3. Reconcile before go-live

Open orders, receivables and stock are loaded and matched to BUSY's closing figures in a trial run. History stays in BUSY.

  4. Run one cycle in parallel

One month-end on both, with a set date to switch off. The migration checklist lists what to settle first.

Questions

Replacing BUSY, batches, and branches.

Is Ordence a replacement for BUSY?

Not usually. BUSY is accounts-first and files GST. Ordence runs enquiries, quotes, reels and lots, dispatch and tracing. Many keep BUSY for the accounts.

BUSY already tracks batches. What does Ordence add?

For a roll trader, the reel itself: width, shade, rack, mill lot, cut plans with waste in rupees, and a dispatch check that blocks an unapproved lot. If a batch number and godown are enough, BUSY covers it.

We run three branches. Does Ordence fit?

Not if the branches are separate companies to combine. Each Ordence system runs one company. BUSY Enterprise lists the branch merging Ordence lacks.
